AHIMA National “Elected” Position Descriptions (Last Update:  November 17, 2015)

 

President/Chair-elect

The President/Chair leads the Board of Directors, which governs the Association, sets strategy, budgets and maintains fiduciary oversight. The President/Chair serves as an ex-officio member of all volunteer groups.

 

Director

The AHIMA Board is responsible for setting long-term strategy and direction, governing activities, and fulfilling the organization's fiduciary responsibility.

 

Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM)- Commissioner

The Commission on Certification for CCHIIM is dedicated to assuring the competency of professionals practicing HIIM. CCHIIM serves the public by establishing, implementing, and enforcing standards and procedures for certification and recertification of HIIM professionals.

 

Council for Excellence in Education (CEE) Council Member

The CEE is the AHIMA Foundation council established in 2011 as the leading force in education strategy for the profession, guiding the academic community through improvements to education, coursework, and the curricula of associate, baccalaureate, and graduate programs in HIM and related studies.

 

Speaker-elect of the HoD

The Speaker-elect supports the HoD along with the Speaker and shall exercise such other duties as may be delegated to the office by the HoD. The Speaker-elect shall assume the office of the Speaker upon the expiration of the Speaker’s term of office or in the event of a vacancy in the office.

This assessment outlines the competencies for the AHIMA volunteer leadership positions. It explains the core competencies all volunteers should strive for and specifies additional competencies for leadership roles. It is a useful tool for professional development and when considering volunteering for leadership positions.
